Founded in 1978, the Warrior Run - Fort Freeland Heritage Society is a non-profit organization dedicated
to the preservation of the history and heritage of the Warrior Run area. Located in central Pennsylvania, the term "Warrior Run" refers
to a defined geographic region in part of Union, Northumberland, and Montour Counties.
In 1980, the Heritage Society entered into a management agreement with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to manage and
maintain the buildings and grounds of the Warrior Run Church. In 1979, the society entered into an agreement with the Warrior Run School
District to restore and manage the Hower-Slote House and Farm. The Hower-Slote property was officially listed on the National Register of
Historic Places on August 22, 1979.
The Society actively collects and preserves objects made and used by settlers of the area and makes its collections available for viewing
and study to interested students and scholars. In addition to its collections, the society also encourages the preservation of the crafts
once practiced in the area through an active apprenticeship/mentor program.
